Iranian Raisi discusses bilateral relations and international issues with Chinese President Xi – Al-Manar TV Lebanon

Iranian and Chinese Presidents Ebrahim Raisi and Xi Jinping on Friday discussed major international and regional developments and stressed strengthening bilateral cooperation as much as possible.

During an hour-long phone conversation, Raisi described US interference in countries’ internal affairs as a continuation of Washington’s destructive policy of unilateralism, which has now become a threat to peace and security. world.

The Iranian president said that respecting national sovereignty and preserving the territorial integrity of countries are the fundamental principles of the Islamic Republic’s foreign policy, the Mehr news agency reported.

In this context, he described upholding the one-China principle as the definitive and principled policy of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

While emphasizing Iran’s determination to comprehensively develop its relations with China regardless of international developments, Raisi cited independent cooperation based on the national interests of sovereign countries as the right model of governance at the regional and international levels and stressed the need to uphold justice and equity. in the nascent international order, viewing any US attempt to repeat the Cold War pattern around the world as a sign of its weakness and decline.

“This approach by the Islamic Republic of Iran has provided the necessary foundation for collective security and development in West Asia and can be a model for building political confidence and economic development in the region.”

Raisi, meanwhile, highlighted Iran’s efforts to ensure maritime security and energy transfer, hailing the development of multilateral economic cooperation within the framework of regional and extra-regional arrangements such as the International Cooperation Organization. of Shanghai and the BRICS group.

The two presidents also agreed on the development strategies and the acceleration of the process of implementing the 25-year comprehensive plan of cooperation by proposing initiatives for the development of cooperation and expressing their satisfaction with the development of relations and the surge in trade between the two countries over the past year.

Xi Jinping, for his part, appreciated the cooperation between Iran and China in the international arena and the mutual support of the two countries for each other’s positions in the regional and international arenas.

While stressing the importance of maintaining regional stability and the constructive role of the Islamic Republic of Iran in this regard, Xi Jinping stressed that China is against the policy of pressure and unilateralism.

The Chinese president stressed the strategic importance of China-Iran relations and his country’s efforts to strengthen and develop key strategic and security cooperation between the two countries, especially in the areas of trade, economy, infrastructure and energy.

“The implementation of the 25-year comprehensive cooperation document between the two countries is a big step in this direction, and on this basis, I issue the necessary orders for the development of comprehensive strategic relations with Iran, including in the economic field. field”.
