The agreement was signed yesterday in the presence of President Muhammadu Buhari and Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez in Madrid, Spain, where President Buhari is attending the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO).
Among President Buhari’s entourage in Spain were the Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Mr. Sunday Dare, Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Mr. Abubakar Malami (SAN), Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, OtunbaNiyi Adebayo, Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, Lai Mohammed and the Nigerian Ambassador to Spain, Mr. Ademola Seriki.
The media assistant to the Minister of Youth and Sports, Kola Daniel, called the bilateral agreement between the two countries historic, saying it will boost the development of sports in the country, especially football.
“The bilateral agreement relates to sports and forensic criminal investigations. The Honorable Minister for Youth and Development was part of the trip to find out what the sports agreement was all about.
“Spain is one of the greatest sporting nations and Nigeria is no exception. The bilateral relationship will boost the development of sport in Nigeria and the Honorable Minister of Sports is pleased with this development as it will mark the growth of football and other sports, remember that the League Management Company (LMC) has a relationship with La Liga,” Daniel said.
