Pakistan, Ethiopia express satisfaction with overall trajectory of bilateral ties

The bilateral political consultations between Pakistan and Ethiopia, held in Islamabad, reviewed the full range of bilateral relations and exchanged views on regional and international issues of mutual interest.

Foreign Minister Sohail Mahmood led the Pakistani side while Ethiopia’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Redwan Hussien, who is on an official visit to Pakistan, led the Ethiopian delegation.

The Foreign Minister reiterated that Pakistan attaches great importance to its relations with Ethiopia and looks forward to exploring new areas of mutually beneficial cooperation, especially in economic, trade and agricultural fields.

He welcomed Ethiopia’s decision to open its embassy in Islamabad.

The Foreign Minister highlighted Pakistan’s vision of “Engaging Africa” ​​aimed at deepening political, trade, economic, investment, cultural and security engagement with the African continent.

Ambassador Hussien said Ethiopia’s decision to establish its diplomatic presence in Islamabad reflected the importance it attached to strengthening its engagement with Pakistan.

Later, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs of Ethiopia, Ambassador Redwan Hussien met Prime Minister Imran Khan and Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi separately in Islamabad and discussed issues related to bilateral relations .

Ambassador Hussien sent an official message to the Prime Minister on behalf of Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali, including the invitation to visit Ethiopia.

The Prime Minister stressed that Pakistan attaches great importance to its long-standing ties with Ethiopia and stressed the importance of further increasing trade and investment cooperation between the two countries.

Previously, the visiting Ethiopian dignitary visited the Foreign Ministry and visited Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi.

Noting the long history of brotherly ties and close cooperation between the two countries, the foreign minister said Pakistan is willing to explore new avenues of collaboration between Pakistan and Ethiopia.

Ambassador Hussien thanked the Pakistani government for its hospitality and reiterated Ethiopia’s desire to further strengthen bilateral relations, especially in the trade and economic fields.
