Pakistani air chief meets Iranian air commodore to discuss bilateral ties

Pakistani Air Chief of Staff Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmad Babar met his Iranian counterpart Brigadier General Hamid Vahedi at the Air Force Headquarters on Monday Pakistani in Islamabad.

Iranian Ambassador to Pakistan Mohammad Ali Hosseini, Iranian Defense Attaché Colonel Mosatafa Qanbarpour and Pakistani Air Force officials were present at the meeting.

According to media reports, the two sides discussed bilateral cooperation between the countries in the fields of defence, military and education.

The Iranian air chief underlined the historical and cultural values ​​shared between the two countries.

Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmad stressed the need to enhance bilateral cooperation and expressed Pakistan Air Force’s determination to further strengthen the current bilateral relationship.

In recent years, this is the second visit by a senior Iranian armed forces official to Pakistan.

Prior to this visit, Major General Mohammad Bagheri, Chief of General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran, visited Pakistan in October 2022 at the invitation of the Chief of Staff of the army (COAS), General Qamar Javed Bajwa.

Additionally, COAS General Qamar Javed Bajwa has made two official visits to Iran in recent years and met with the country’s political and military officials.
